it’s been a long time since I was involved with any type of long-term project of any kind but that’s all set to change. after a few warm-up sessions and personal time management on my part, I am very pleased to announce that I’m returning to radio!
back in university, I was a part of a Hip-Hop Show (The Hip-Hop Show on B-1000) alongside a few friends. it was more than fun, never a chore and you could find me on the computer soundboard getting knee deep into the sound effects with glee. we even had the legend that is DJ 279 come down one week and I can distinctly remember getting stuck in with the ‘Westwood‘ question (279 and Tim Westwood were supposedly rival Uk based Hip-Hop DJ’s). I find that I’m experiencing the same energy with this. rough, ready but this time with powerful purpose
“…a platform for intellectual and activist efforts to reverse Africa’s current marginalisation..”
the show is called AWIP which stands for Another World Is Possible. why the name? amongst other objectives such as the alternative to war and alternative to austerity movement, show founder and executive producer, Explo Nani-Kofi, wanted to create a show which gave a platform for intellectual and activist efforts to reverse Africa’s current marginalisation aswell as independent grass root and extra-establishment efforts to develop organisational capacity for Africans to reverse the present state of their marginalisation. this is why its so exciting to be a part of this project as instead of unnecessary sloganeering and banner waving, you get to speak to brothas and sistas on the ground worldwide who are actively putting their energy into changing the current state of world affairs. this is only currently able to happen via the platform which is GFM Radio, a community station that is committed to African and Caribbean people in the UK and it is a pleasure to be able to use their facilities

I’ll be on air fortnightly starting this Tuesday 02/07/13 from 19:00 – 21:00 GMT+1 with some powerful guests forthcoming. The subject of Tuesday‘s show is Has the Central African Republic been forgotten and why is the region and surrounding area of importance? This is something that we should all be asking and is one of the great tragidies of our time. with the guests that we have planned, this is something that we definitely be expounding on further
