iOS7 is here but to be completely real and honest… Android is better

I’m not trying to bait people or be ridiculous and yes it doesn’t really matter in the scheme of things but it’s actually true. I used to have an iPhone 4. had it for 2 years and while my reasons for having one were not exclusively about my enjoyment of the device, an extensive contract (it was actually about the high re-sell values iPhone‘s maintain) or whatever, I too thought Android was not worthy of my attention

that was until I got a Nexus 4

nothing more to say really. click the link above for. thanks to Paul Stamatiou

can’t wait to see what KitKat has in store, crazy name aside

another iOS 7 ‘leak’ or opinion? either way, I like it

The whole OS has that ‘skinny jeans’ Helvetica Neue Ultra Light [or similar] that you’ve seen in those posters. At the top, instead of carrier signal bars, Apple now has 5 dots that are white or gray to represent the signal.

via “What iOS 7 looks like” – let’s hope not – Neowin.

via the writers at Neowin via 9-5 Mac comes another look ahead at the anticipated iOS7 reveal at the WWDC starting tonight at 6pm GMT. new devices are expected also depending on which website you go to or ‘analyst :-)’ *spits* you believe. LOL at the comments from the writer Ben Buffone though

Whilst this information, if true, gives us some great insight into an early beta of iOS 7, it doesn’t detract from how awful it looks. Check out that Safari icon; it looks like a damn thermostat.

ouch lol. tell ’em how you feel!

the look is minimal and ‘flat’ which is how things are being pushed by certain multinational North American tech and sales companies (Ebay) these. why? I would like to know too

Microsoft did get there first with Windows Phone, Google have Holo and it is something I definitely approve of so while Apple will roll this out and attempt to pass it off as something wholly original…yeah…take it away Steve (R.I.P)

I guess because an iPhone doesn’t have NFC this is pointless…right?

RIGHT. OF COURSE

I can haz #iOS6!

but I don’t want it though

20120919-190709.jpg

the change-log is fairly incremental (with some downgrades even? new Maps anyone?) and just seems to plug holes that should have been filled before. IOS 5 seemed like a real upgrade with features that really did enrich your day to day communications and wallet. this? I’ll pass. for now

still if you’re an iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch user make use of your OTA (over the air) software update feature in Settings and get to downloading

Apple – y u kno try anymore? ;-p

ok let’s tackle this quickly

UPDATE

ok you already seen what was unveiled. resting on laurels, disappointment, license to print money or basically s**** – feel free to use any of these statements as they all work

I had written up a quite long post detailing some of the ridiculous reasons why Apple do so well with the iPhone but then this WordPress for iOS app deleted it all again so instead…I’ll use pictures and video to more or less explain some of my thoughts

this video really says it all to be honest

then this pic (apologies for the bad language)

and finally…I think I’ll be taking the phone on the right. till next time…

Apple

– a 4inch (or perhaps taller) iPhone. maybe wider
– it will come in 32 and 64GB flavours
– some kind of polarising filter on the display with a higher pixel count. the filter might have a new buzzword name. both features will then bring it level with the Nokia Lumia 920
– it will support pentaband LTE
– a 12 mpx camera with a refined version of Digital Image Stabilisation. this may also have a new buzzword esque name
– it will have a quad core processor
– I’m also expecting it will support Thunderbolt. this is me just speculating though. perhaps expect Bluetooth 4.0 and / or NFC. this will be called iShare
– the “one more thing” annoyance will of course be availability, different colours and either wireless charging or the ability to take off the back and snap new backs on upgrading the camera or adding wireless charging (what Nokia showed off with the 820

what I want to see

– a new 128GB iPod Touch with an vastly improved DAC and GPS. that’s about it
– new iMac’s. mainly for Swindle who was on dire need of one. if you have no idea who he is, go here for the Spotlight audio interview I did with him

what do you think?

I’ll update this when the event is over but I should be live tweeting this as I follow a live blog. follow me for snark and honesty 😉

monkey man…

one of the loose translations of Stellify (as stated on Wikitionary) is to ‘transform into a celestial body’. it seems this stellar theme which first emerged on his first solo single (My Star) is to be continued on this the first release from Ian Brown‘s sixth studio album entitled My Way.  the clip is below

Ian Brown- Stellify Video by Ian Brown – MySpace Video

the brass band middle eight is a great touch as is the use of tom drums. Brown is not known as the greatest vocalist but his vocals are surprisingly seamless with the result (a possible love ode) creating the right type of anticipation for his forthcoming project. personally I’ve never ever disliked any of his solo material…yet don’t own a CD…that may have to change soon…

as always the brand with three stripes is his choice of garb and you can never forget those distinctive features lol. Brown (alongside Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream) is a musician who never seems to really age but for the first time in some close ups you can see the tracks of time – hey even Indie legends aren’t immune

I’m not going to re-type information and pass it off as my own so here is the press release as sent out by Polydor digital PR

Stellify is available on the Stellify EP, which was announced and released on Monday, and shot straight to the top of the iTunes album charts, where it remains today.

The EP features four new tracks lifted from forthcoming sixth studio album My Way, available seven weeks ahead of physical release.

It also gives fans access to an exclusive 48-hour pre-sale on tickets for Ian Brown’s Winter Tour, the dates of which will be announced shortly”

Stellify EP is available to download now from iTunes

Stellify is released as a single 21 September 2009

My Way follows 28 September on Fiction

it would be nice if this pseudo Apple monopoly on digital music could be broken some day soon

but that’s for another time
